John Adrian (Cal) Calvert

Cal passed away on November 6, 2003, in his 89th year. He is survived by his wife Rita (Picard) and was predeceased by the late Winnifred Newman.

Cal was a founding member (tuba) of the National Press and Allied Workers Jazz Band, which raised large amounts of money for a number of symphony orchestras and a variety of charities across Canada. Cal was also a member of the Soup Kitchen Band and the Grey Jazz Quartet.

Cal was very highly regarded by everyone who knew him and will be greatly missed by musicians and friends across Canada, especially those in Local 180.
