Mac Horner

Life member Local 180
Mac joined the Local in 1946 (trombone and string bass). He travelled with the Maynard Ferguson Big Band along with fellow 180 members Norman “Duke” McGuirl and Frank Constantini in 1947/48. He was the bandleader at the Gatineau Club in 1949/50. In 1950, he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and was a member of the Central Band stationed in Ottawa. He was later posted to Goose Bay, Labrador, as Director of Music for the forces band stationed in Goose bay. After retirement from the Forces, Mac worked as a professional musician and piano tuner and retired in 2000. Mac passed away in December of 2013. He will be greatly missed by his many friends in Local 180.
