Michael James (Mick) Collins
d. – 2009
Surrounded by his family and loved ones at his home in Carleton Place on Saturday, April 18, 2009, at the age of 70.
Mick was a long-time member of the Musicians’ Association of Ottawa-Gatineau. Mick worked for many years as a sheet-metal specialist at the Aviation Museum in Ottawa.
He was a trumpet player and vocalist for jazz bands in Ottawa and Toronto for the last forty years – the Jazz Ambassadors, Apex, Phoenix, The Hot Five, Climax, Tishomingo, Concorde Trio, Standing Room Only Swing Band, The Carleton Place Community Band, and most recently with the Peter Brown duo at the St. James Gate Pub in Carleton Place.
Mick will be greatly missed by his many friends and fellow musicians in the Ottawa and Toronto Locals.
Rest in peace, Mick.
