Pawel Szymczyk-Marjanovic

After lengthy health problems, died suddenly on June 3, 2004, in Toronto.
Pawel was a well-known Ottawa-Gatineau cellist who performed with the NAC Orchestra, Thirteen Strings, the Hull Chamber Orchestra and the Ioan Harea String Quartet. Born in Warsaw, Poland, Pawel received his musical training and orchestral introductions in Belgrade before moving to Canada.
At the time of his death, he had focused on preparing his cello students at Suzuki Music, Ottawa, for their year-end concert. That concert was performed and dedicated to his memory on June 6. Among his cello students was Christian Elliott.
Pawel was a highly regarded cellist in the Ottawa-Gatineau music community, and he will be missed and fondly remembered by his many friends at Local 180.
